The Castle of Sant Julià de Ramis, nestled in the Sants Metges mountain, is an old military fortress from the end of the 19th century, whose history is intertwined with the deepest roots of the region. Built next to the ancient Iberian settlement of Kerunta, it is said that this place was the inspiration for the foundation of Gerunda by the Romans two thousand years ago. Its historical importance is undeniable, and many consider it the possible origin of the city of Girona.
On this same mountain, visitors can explore the Iberian site and the monuments that marked this momentous chapter in history, helping to shape what we know today as our beloved Girona.
